A 38-year-old man, Isaac Ineh, on Monday appeared before a Somolu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on alleged theft of vehicle parts valued at N1,149,779.
Ineh, who is of no fixed address, is facing a count charge of stealing. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinlebi Adegoke, told the court that
Ineh had on Sept. 17 at 10.00 p.m. broke into the premises of Consolidated
Hallmark Insurance Company and stole the vehicle parts.
According to him, the accused allegedly climbed into the
premises of the company, located at No. 266 Obanikoro St., Somolu, and
vandalised the vehicles.
``Ineh climbed over the fence into the premises and
vandalised several vehicles in the premises and collected 24 side mirrors, 14
brain boxes and 12 control switches.
``He collected the vehicle parts all valued at N1, 149, 779.
``The security men on duty raised an alarm when the security
alarm of one of the vehicles went off and the accused attempted to flee but was
apprehended," Adegoke said.
He said the offences
contravened Section 278 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail
in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case
to Oct. 19 for trial. (NAN)
